How to get to Plakias

You can arrive at Plakias either by choosing Heraklion Airport (117km) or Chania Airport (100km).

By car
Either from Heraklion or Chania, follow the signs to Rethymno. When you reach Rethymno take the second exit (towards “Spili”) following the country road (you are traveling south) for 17km until you reach an intersection. Turn right, following the direction to “Plakias” and “Preveli”. This is the Koxares-Preveli road. In about 4 km, you will reach Kourtaliotis Gorge. At end of the gorge, you will see Asomatos Village. At the village exit, there is another intersection. Turn left towards “Plakias” and “Preveli”. Next, you will meet Lefkogia Village and then Plakias.

By Bus (Public Bus Service – KTEL)
From the airport (Chania or Heraklion) you have to take the bus or taxi to get to KTEL (Public Bus Service) Rethymno – Chania. There is a regular bus service to Rethymno Bus Station and then, with the third bus you will reach Plakias. To arrange your transfer properly, consult https://www.e-ktel.com/services/dromologia.

By Taxi
At every port or airport, there are taxis that can take you directly to Plakias. Indicative cost from Heraklion to Plakias: 120€. Indicative cost from Chania to Plakias: 115€
