About 3km. South of the village of Lefkogia lies the Schinaria beach. From the unique beaches of South Crete where nature, both inside and outside the sea, impresses at first glance. On the beach there are small lakes with water flowing from springs of the surrounding mountains. Immediately you can see the deep blue colors of the sea and the sculptured marble rocks. The beach has fine gray-beige sand and rock with crystal clear turquoise deep waters, while its seabed is rocky. Such rich sea-life is found on only a few beaches in Crete. Also, the clarity of the water is really impressive (it exceeds 40m horizontally). That’s why Schinaria are probably the best scuba diving destination. Already, an international diving school has been established in Schinaria, with students from all over the world.
